"You let me carry the conch, Ralph. I'll show him the one thing he hasn't got," says Piggy. Explain the irony in these words.

"You let me carry the conch, Ralph. I'll show him the one thing he hasn't got," says Piggy. Explain the irony in these words. The irony in these words is that the one thing Piggy values almost as much as his glasses, the conch, is the one thing Jack actually has no interest in. What Piggy doesn't realise though, is that Piggy is not only showing him the conch as something he doesn't have, but by showing up to Jack's camp, he shows something else Jack doesn't have. Intelligence, and revenge on Piggy more having something he does not.

It is also ironic that Piggy is going to go to Jack and tell him that he hasn't got something when Piggy also doesn't have his glasses which he really needs. With Piggy, his intelligence is lost and Jack has a victory over Ralph and his beliefs of being rescued.

"You let me carry the conch, Ralph. I'll show him the one thing he hasn't got," says Piggy. Explain the irony in these words. The iron to this comment is that even though Jack does not have the conch, he has no desire or apparent need for it either. Piggy values the conch and sees it as a symbol of civilisation and order, something Jack does not want in his tribe. When piggy shows up at Jack's castle he does indeed shows Jack the one thing he wants that he hasn't got, but it isn't the conch, it is revenge against piggy, Samneric and Ralph for refusing to join his tribe.

jack does not desire having the conch. he thinks he doesnt need civlisation and rules with savagry instead. Piggy sees the conch as almighty and doesnt see the irony in what he is saying.

"You let me carry the conch, Ralph. I'll show him the one thing he hasn't got," says Piggy. Explain the irony in these words. The irony in these words is that even though the conch is extremely important to Piggy, it doesn't mean anything to Jack. Jack doesn't care about civilisation or Ralph's authority which is what the conch represents. When Piggy holds out the conch, expecting Jack to want it, he is surprised when Jack has no interest in it.

I agree with you. I think it is sad in a way that Piggy has so much faith in the conch and then it was destroyed when he is killed.

"You let me carry the conch, Ralph. I'll show him the one thing he hasn't got," says Piggy. Explain the irony in these words. What Piggy, the intelligent and civilised one, believes in has passed importance for a long time for Jack. So when Piggy has the conch, it gives him a sense of protection, but is worthless for Jack. Piggy needs the one thing more important back, so a sign of reunion and persuasion, he takes the conch to get back his glasses. But because of the unfortunate situation, Piggy receives no protection and is killed without having a chance to escape.

The irony in the sentence is that Jack has no interest in the conch and that with piggy showing up to jacks camp with the conch it would mean absolutely nothing to jack.

"You let me carry the conch, Ralph. I'll show him the one thing he hasn't got," says Piggy. Explain the irony in these words. The irony is that while the conch (representing order, reason, and civilisation) doesn't belong to Jack, he has no need or desire for it. However, Piggy does show him "the one thing he hasn't got", which is revenge against Ralph, Piggy, and the boys.

"You let me carry the conch, Ralph. I'll show him the one thing he hasn't got," says Piggy. Explain the irony in these words. The irony about this line is that Piggy is naive enough to believe Jack still wants civilisation. He fails to see Jack and his tribe have no wish to become civilised, probably because he can't see their way of thinking as he is so logical and tied to the life he had back home.

I agree, it is also sad how Piggy died with the conch. So all knowledge, science, civilisation and order is now gone.
