The Radley place fascinates Dill, Scout and Jem because it's a place of mystery. There are lots of rumours about the Radley household, and these stories emit excitement for the kids in an otherwise boring neighbourhood.

I believe these rumours are also due to the towns people being very nosy and most of them having strong love for gossip. |

As the summers are long and children are bored quite easily, Jem, Scout and Dill will want some excitement which the Radley house provides. The rumours about the Radley household also adds a sense of mystery for the kids.

These three children are also at an age where they are trying to prove themselves as young people. They are under the impression that it is a feat of 'courage' to run up and press the doorbell or roll the tyre nearby. Having a 'scary' place like the Radley place in the neighbourhood provides a testing ground for their emerging personalities. |
