The boss was mad at George And Lennie because he expecting them to come the night before ready to able to work the next morning, George than informs them that they had to walk as the bus wouldn't lake them there.

The boss expected them to work right away in the morning when he expected them to arrive

The was mad at George and Lennie for being a day late, his anger increases when George answers all of Lennies questions for him. |

The boss is mad at George & Lennie because he was expecting them to be at the ranch ready to work in the morning but when they got to the ranch George told the boss that they were late because the bus didn't take them to the ranch. The boss also gets angrier because George answers all of Lennie's questions for him.

The boss is angry at Lennie & George because they were late and were supposed to come the night before. He gets more angry because George keeps answering questions Lennie should answer.

The boss comes into the bunkhouse inquiring why George and Lennie are late because they were scheduled to begin the work this morning, George then explains to the boss that they were late because the bus driver dropped them in the wrong location and they had a long way to walk. Lennie responds when the boss asks for their names and this makes George very nervous. George then tells the boss that Lennie is a slow thinker but a hard worker.
