Why do you think Jack insists on going up the mountain to look for the beast even though it's already dark when they arrive? What internal conflict does Ralph feel about the decision to go up the mountain in the dark?

I think Jack wants to go up the mountain even though it's already dark because he wants to prove to everyone that he's not afraid of anything. Ralph feels conflicted about the decision to go up the mountain in the dark because he knows it's dangerous and they could get hurt but he still wants to go to prove that he's as brave as Jack, so nobody loses faith in him as a leader.

What internal conflict does Ralph feel about the decision to go up the mountain in the dark? Simon wants to prove that he is not afraid of anything including the beast by going up the mountain. He wants to prove himself to the boys. Once Jack decides this, Ralph is internally conflicted as he is concerned about the danger of going up to the top of the mountain, however he also wants o prove himself to the boys and prove he is a strong leader that isn't scared easily.

Jack may have also, in a way, been challenging Ralph by seeing if he would actually dare to travel up the mountain while it was dark. Ralph is wary of the dangers, but doesn't want to appear weak in front of the other boys as you said.

What internal conflict does Ralph feel about the decision to go up the mountain in the dark? Jack was possibly so insistint to go up the mountain because he is accustomed to the savagery life. He is used to hunting, wandering and doing whatever he wants. Jack is also not afraid whilst Ralph is. By going up the mountain Jack could all so be challenging Ralph to see if he is man enough to go up the mountain.

Jack also seems very arrogant, and probably thinks he is strong, tough and brave enough to take on the beast himself.

What internal conflict does Ralph feel about the decision to go up the mountain in the dark? I believe Jack want to prove himself, he wants to further regain the trust. Jack want to prove himself by climbing the mountain. Finding the beast and possibly slaying it in the dark would give him the utmost respect.

I think Jack wants to seem brave and he likes to taunt Ralph and make him look scared because he knows that Ralph doesn't want to go up the mountain. Ralph doesn't think that there is any use in going up the mountain in the dark because they would have trouble seeing, there were only three of them at the time, and they were only carrying sticks as weapons.

I think that he may also believe that there really is no beast or if there is, they might see something in the dark and not see it properly and they might take it for something else and get even more scared and fearful of the beastie when in actuality, it could be something completely different and they could just be forming things in their mind.

I think that Jack wants to go up the mountain to look for the beats while its dark because he wants to challenge Ralph and see if he is brave enough to go up there with him but if Ralph doesn't go with Jack, it will give him a reason to say he is the better leader because he isn't scared of anything and he is a true hunter and leader. Ralph doesn't know whether to with him because he doesn't know what they might be walking into as they are unsure if the beast will be there, but if doesn't go he won't be thought of as brave as Jack and might loose his role as chief.
