How does Piggy show “intellectual daring”? Why is this so significant to the boys? Piggy shows intellectual daring by suggesting that the boys start their signal fire near the meeting place. This is significant to the boys because Piggy is the only one of them who has enough intellect to suggest something that would seem like a bad idea, like building a fire that's not on the top of the mountain, and make everybody realise that it's actually a good idea.

Piggy is more intelligent than the others and is a daring character to suggest an idea which could end up being a bad one. Piggy thinks outside of the box and suggests building a fire on the beach after going up the mountain was no longer an option.

I believe it is suggestions like this that show that without Piggy, the boys might not even be as far as they currently are without his intelligence. It shows with his quick thinking, they need him to survive.

This also shows just how intelligent Piggy is, and that his physical weaknesses are nothing compared to his ideas and problem solving abilities.

How does Piggy show “intellectual daring”? Why is this so significant to the boys? Just when all the other boys are frightened and helpless, Piggy steps in and suggests an alternative of building a fire on the beach. It gives the boys a lot more hope for rescue compared to never having smoke again. Piggy has become confident and sure of his role, which allows him to say any ideas out of the ordinary. His intelligence is respected by some boys and it is relied upon more often. Without it, they could not be as motivated to be rescued.

It shows with his quick thinking, they need him to survive. this is the quote from the book: "only Piggy could have the intellectual daring to suggest moving the fire from the mountain." and as well as all these ideas, the fact that the boys are noticing Piggy's intelligent at this particular idea is symbolic. If the boys listen to Piggy, they are moving the fire but it is also a symbol of the boys moving forward.

Piggy shows intellectual daring when he suggests that the boys fire be moved to near the meeting place instead of on the mountain. This is significant because he was the first one to even think of an idea like this, which shows that the boys really need Piggy's intelligence to keep them alive.

This is a big leap for Piggy, as he is usually the more realistic and level-headed one.

It also shows that he is capable of being a leader. He acts like a grown up and he makes all of the boys excited about having a fire down on the beach. Piggy is important to the boys' survival

How does Piggy show “intellectual daring”? Why is this so significant to the boys? Piggy shows intellectual daring when suggesting they build a fire on the beach, I think this knocks the boys around in a way and brings some logic back into there minds. I think piggy has found his place, and is respected as he is the intelligent one in the group

How does Piggy show “intellectual daring”? Why is this so significant to the boys? Piggy suggests that the boys build a fire on the beach to avoid confronting the beast on the mountain. This is significant to the boys because it symbolises that the fear the boys, especially Jack, have created, can be defeated or at least avoided by Piggy's intelligence. This tells the boys that they have underestimated Piggy, for he is just as capable as Ralph and Jack.

Piggy shows 'intellectual daring' by suggesting that they should build the fire down on the beach and not re-light the fire in the mountains so they won't encounter the beast. Since Jack has left, it has let the boys come together and be more of a team but also let them to each share their ideas of what they should do in a civilised manner so they agree to the idea and then all get to work on it too. While Jack was there though this would never of happened because he wouldn't let Piggy open his mouth and say anything and the other boys didn't feel like they could share what they thought around him because ehe had so much control over them.

How does Piggy show “intellectual daring”? Why is this so significant to the boys? Piggy shows "intellectual daring", when he suggests that they move the fire down to the beach because, though it would make it a lot easier to maintain, no one had suggested it. This is significant because this is one of the first times that piggy's ideas are actually being listened to and not dismissed because of his demeanour and appearance. It shows maturity in the boys and I wonder if Jack was perhaps the reason Piggy was browbeaten and satirized.
