What are the purpose and effect of Jack‟s generosity with the meat he and the hunters obtained? What do you think his decision to give meat to even Ralph and Piggy is meant to show? I believe that is showing that Jack wants to gain control of all the boys in the group and win over the boys who aren't already with him, such as Ralph and Piggy. This is also meant to show the boys that he is a kind leader and will share around even with people who haven't joined with him. This could also help to persuade Ralph and Piggy to join with Jack.

Jack was generous with the meat because he was trying to persuade the boys, who were still in Ralph's group, to join his group. He was quite successful, but he still couldn't win over Ralph and Piggy. Jack even gave meat to Ralph and Piggy to also persuade them to join his group and to show them that he is in control.

Jack shares meat with Ralph and Piggy in an attempt to win their favour and persuade them to join his tribe so that he can have control over all of the boys. I think his decision is meant to show that the 'evil' side may look nice, but in fact they were just trying to win them over and show them that if they joined Jack's tribe, they would have delicious succulent meat instead of just fruit. However, if Ralph joins Jack's tribe, the fire will no longer continue burning and they will never get rescued. I agree that Jack's offer is actually something sinister that's being disguised as a truly generous act. By trying to win over Ralph and Piggy, Jack's actions could show that having power of the majority of the boys isn't enough for him and that he won't be satisfied until he has power over absolutely everybody.

Jack's "generosity" was a facade - he was not being generous, he was simply trying to gain the favour of Ralph and Piggy in hopes that they would join his tribe, so that he could have control over all of the boys.

I think Jack offers Ralph and Piggy meat becuase he is trying to win them over and look good in front of the other boys. He wants control over the island and is saying that if you join my tribe, you will get meat. Also then if Ralph and Piggy joins he is basically automaticcally the leader of the island.

Jack's generosity to give so e meat to Ralph and Piggy was more of a bpasting technique. He is letting them know he is now the 'Alpha male', amd is far more capable of survival as leader than the others. Jack is simply offering Ralph a chance to surrender. If Ralph and piggy join their tribe then Jack automatically becomes leader of the island and he can do things how he wants.

Jack gives Ralph to piggy and Ralph to try and win them over and to try and get them to join his tribe. He is trying to show what they will receive if they join. He also wants to show that he has control and precedence over all the boys on the island by supplying the chief with something that he had asked for because the chief has no meat but jack does.
