What does Simon discover and understand on the mountain top? Simon comes across the figure with the parachute. He realises that this is the beast everyone was talking about. He is definitely not afraid of the decomposing body, but feels sorry for it. He is urged to tell the other boys how the beast they have thought of is actually harmless. If the knowledge is passed on, all the boys will become calmer and act rationally to save them from many mistakes and bed decisions.

If the knowledge is passed on, all the boys will become calmer and act rationally to save them from many mistakes and bed decisions. It proves his theory of the boys or humans being the beast, but he is unable to tell the others, even though he has tried, they still wouldn't of believed him and still didn't get the opportunity to finish saying what he thought the beast was.

What does Simon discover and understand on the mountain top? Simon begins to understand the story of the beast. His discovery reveals the dead parachutist, the 'beastie' on top of the island. Simon has been the only person level headed enough to investigate closely. If he had his chance to share his experience, maybe the boys attitudes would be calmed

What does Simon discover and understand on the mountain top? Simon discovers the dead body of the parachutist and realises that this is the beast that has all the boys on the island terrified. He is sick for quick some time before he recovers and decides to free the body of the straps of the parachute. He rushes down the mountain to tell his discovery to all the other boys, but instead in the darkness, was mistaken for being the beastie and was killed by the boys.

If the knowledge is passed on, all the boys will become calmer and act rationally to save them from many mistakes and bed decisions. It also cements the idea that simon is more intuitive, brave and understating than the other boys. He was the only one who took the time to approach the beast to understand what it actually was. So he discovers the beast is nothing to be afraid of and we understand simon is different from the rest.

Simon discovers that the "beast" is actually a dead parachutist. He understood how the parachutist looked like a beast to the boys. "The tangle of lines showed him the mechanics oh this parody; he examined the white nasal bones, the teeth, the colours of corruption." (pg. 181)

What does Simon discover and understand on the mountain top? When Simon "talks" to the Lord of the Flies (the dead pig's head) on the mountain top his initial belief, that the boys themselves are the beastie, is confirmed. He tries to run down to the boys and tell them of his discovery, but unfortunately the one thing he didn't understand was when the Lord of the Flies told him that he'd never be able to overcome the beastie, so Simon ends up being murdered by the beastie, which was the tribe of boys on the beach.

What does Simon discover and understand on the mountain top? On the mountaintop Simon finally discovers the 'beast' which is only a dead adult parachutist. He has believed all along that the beast really is the boys themselves and seems to be relieved and happy that he was right.

What does Simon discover and understand on the mountain top? Simon discovers a dead parachutist at the top of the mountain. He realises that this is the so called beast. If Simon had been able to tell the boys what he had experienced at the top of the mountain, the boys may have calmed down and forgotten about their fear of the beast.

He finds the parachute and the decomposing body that is connected to the parachute. Simon is not scared of the body and feels sorry for it. He ffels like he has to pass on the informaton to the boys about how the beast they believed in is actually harmless to them all. It was ironic that when Simon returned to tell the boys he was treated in an aggressive way. Simon has bee the vital down to earth thinker the boys need, and this news could save the boys from their possible unfortunate future.
