In what way are the twins “seeing Ralph for the first time” before they all set off for Castle Rock? The twins think this as they are about to set off to Castle Rock and Ralph had been explaining why they needed smoke before losing his train of thought. Piggy jumps in and reminds Ralph that the smoke is for being rescued and despite Ralph assuring the other biguns he had not forgotten why they need the smoke, we can detect that perhaps even Ralph is descending and becoming less of a civilised person. The twins feel as though they are now seeing him in a way they haven't seen before, as though he has changed dramatically.

The twins feel as though they are now seeing him in a way they haven't seen before, as though he has changed dramatically. I think before, all they saw was an aura of leadership and strength. Now, all they see is what Ralph truly is. A scared little boy, missing home and way out of his death. A boy who's façade of strength has been broken by loss of Simon, civilisation, and most of all, his old life. Plus, now, instead of his naïve hope that he will be rescued by his daddy, a sense of hopelessness as settled over Ralph like a cloud. He is no longer the same boy he was at the beginning.

the twis portrey the followers or sheep type of people who mindlessly do what they are told. throughout the novel they follow Ralph and sometimes Jack becuase they are told to. when they 'see Ralph for the first time' it shows that they are breaking from the impression that Ralph is just someone who tells them what to do and is actually someone who is human

In what way are the twins “seeing Ralph for the first time” before they all set off for Castle Rock? The twins are "seeing Ralph for the first time" as they are having a group meeting about their next plan. They see him as though he wasn't really a leader. Because Ralph is acting differently compared to previous meetings, it's as though he has lost some civilisation and can't remember their goals. Samneric are always following whoever, so when they see Ralph differently, it is a clear sign he has changed.

The twins feel as though they are now seeing him in a way they haven't seen before, as though he has changed dramatically. They also see Ralph for what he really is, now that he no longer has the unending support of the other boys - a young boy who is just as afraid of everything as they are.

In what way are the twins “seeing Ralph for the first time” before they all set off for Castle Rock? The twins are finally seeing the true Ralph as opposed to the one they are used to seeing as chief. Ralph is really just a young boys after all who wants to go home, and the twins are visualising him as less of a chief and more as a person. The twins are probably used to seeing him as a leader, so this is a big change for them.

I also think that this is the first time the twins have seen Ralph unsure of himself and his beliefs, when they are used to him being a strong leader.

In what way are the twins “seeing Ralph for the first time” before they all set off for Castle Rock? When the boys first arrived on the island they all met Ralph and their first impression of him was that he was a great leader and was the boy who summoned them all with his conch. Now that Ralph is acting less confident the twins are able to see him as he really is, which is a regular boy just like them.
