What do Samneric mean when they tell Ralph that Jack has “sharpened a stick at both ends”? What do you think the reason for Jack's hatred is?

The stick that is sharpened at both ends is meant for Ralph's head to be put on it just as the pigs head was. i don't think he is doing this out of hatred and instead he wants to kill Ralph to make his power absolute and so there will be no doubt that he is the one and only leader

When Sam and Eric say they have sharpened the stick at both ends, it's means they are planning to kill Ralph, cut off his head, and put his head on the stick like they did with the pig as a sacrifice for the beast. I don't think Jack likes the authority that Ralph had for so long, and as he is going a bit crazy on this island, he hates Ralph to the extent where he wants to murder him.

Samneric mean that Jack is planning on beheading Jack, and turning him into a symbol of is power. I think Jack hates Ralph because, to Jack, Ralph represents everything he doesn't want on the island. Fairness, everyone getting a say, rescue from the island, shelters instead of hunting. Jack wants the exact opposite. Hunting, to stay and play on the island, his overwhelming authority over the boys and basically a dictatorship. I also think he resents ralph for siding with Piggy instead of him. So, to adapt the old saying, I think that jack is thinking, 'if you can't join em, kill em.'

I think Jack hates Ralph so much because he is jealous of Ralph's good looks and natural leadership. So he tries to get rid of Ralph so he no longer has to feel inferior in comparison.

What do Samneric mean when they tell Ralph that Jack has “sharpened a stick at both ends”? What do you think the reason for Jack's hatred is? When Samneric mention the stick that is sharpened at both ends it signifies that jack wants Ralph's head.He wants it on stick in the ground like the 'lord of the flies' was. A sign of their savage victory.

When Samneric say Jack has "sharpened a sick at both ends", they are trying to get Ralph to make the connection between what they did with he pigs head and what they are planing on doing to Ralph. It shows that Jack has plotted to kill Ralph and by putting his head on a stick, it will symbolise his victory of not only killing Ralph, but also, showing that he is now the only chief on the island. Jack has never liked how Ralph had all the authority and control on the island and this will mean Jack is able to get back at Ralph.

Jack sharpened a stick at both ends when he went to hunt the pigs, and he used it to put the pigs head on. The fact that he has sharpened another stick suggests that he is now intending to hunt Ralph and put his head on a stick too. Jack hates Ralph because they want very different things, and Ralph is the only one of the big boys who has not joined Jack's tribe. Until he joins or is killed, Jack will not have full power.

Like the 'Lord of the Flies', the pig was slaughtered out of fear and savagery. Ralph, too, will be killed this way if Jack finds him.

What do Samneric mean when they tell Ralph that Jack has “sharpened a stick at both ends”? What do you think the reason for Jack's hatred is? A stick sharpened at both ends signifies a beheading: one end will be planted in the ground, the other into Ralph's head. The reason for Jack's hatred is that he has very different opinions to Ralph's, and that he fears the boys will follow Ralph instead. Killing Ralph will eliminate this threat.

What do Samneric mean when they tell Ralph that Jack has “sharpened a stick at both ends”? What do you think the reason for Jack's hatred is? This is a reference to the pigs head which the boys put on the end of the stick. they are saying that this is what jack is planing on doing, maybe he show the other boys that he is the one and only leader on the island.
