What foolish method do the boys use to ensure that they find Ralph? What does this decision suggest about the power of hatred and violence versus the power of reason?

The boys attempt to burn the bush where Ralph was hiding. This was a stupid decision because they were at risk of buring the island down again. This shows that savagery has taken over and suggests that the boys would rather kill than eat

What foolish method do the boys use to ensure that they find Ralph? What does this decision suggest about the power of hatred and violence versus the power of reason? Jacks tribe decide to brin the shrubs and bushes that Ralph had been hiding in. This is foolish because they were risking the chance of the island burning down and the chance of themselves being caught in the fire. This proves that the boys have savagery instincts, to kill, burn and use violence. They did not stop and think like a civilised person, and realise what they are doing could cause a lot of harm. Instead they just wanted to kill Ralph.

Instead they just wanted to kill Ralph. The tribe has now almost completely lost their sense of reason and ability to look at the consequences of their actions. They use the fire as a means of flushing out Ralph risking destroying the whole island however, the fire proves to be the one thing that saves them in the end.

The tribe try to smoke out Ralph by setting the bush he is hiding in on fire. This suggests again that the boys are too far gone into savagry and violence and that they would rather hunt Ralph because of hatred, rather then save the island. They relied on their frst instinct, which is violence, rather then stop and think like a rational person.

They decide to burn the bush that Ralph had been hiding in. It never occurred to the boys, that by setting the bush on fire, they could set the whole island on fire. By taking these actions, we can see that the boys have descended into savagery so much that it has taken over them but also that their first instinct is to use violence and not stop to think about the situation.

The boys set fire the the bushes to lure Ralph out of the smoke and the flames. It was a foolish mistake because the boys could of accidently burnt the whole island down. This shows that the savagery has really taken over the boys.

This shows that the savagery has really taken over the boys. It also shows how much they have forgotten from the beginning. It was foolish because it creates the same risks for the boys to get burnt like the littleun at the start did. When the boys want something, their actions display how they are short-sighted and don't thinks about the future.

The boys act foolishly and try to burn the bush that Ralph was hiding in, risking the chance of burning down the whole island. This suggests that the boys were so taken over by savagery that they did not care if killing Ralph meant destroying their sources of food.

The boys set fire to the island in an attempt to find Ralph. It is ironic because they are burning down their food source with the 'object' they stole for the intention to cook food. this is very foolish, but, also ironically, it is an act of savagry that saves the boys from the island.

I think this was a silly idea as the could have burnt the whol Island down and killed quite a few of the boys as a result of the uncontrollable Fire.

To ensure that they find Ralph, the boys set the forest on fire. However in doing so, they have destroyed their food sources: fruit and pigs. This decision suggests that violence and hatred have taken over from reason and the boys are not thinking about the implications of their actions, only that they want to kill Ralph.

This shows that the savagery has really taken over the boys. Also buring the island would result in buring the remaining fruit and pigs. If no one had come to rescue them they would have starved to death.

What foolish method do the boys use to ensure that they find Ralph? What does this decision suggest about the power of hatred and violence versus the power of reason? The foolish method the boys attempt to use is smoking or burning Ralph out of his hiding place. This puts the notion into place that they are more fixed on killing Ralph then they are of their own survival. They are happy to jeopardize they food source for his capture.
