Lennie got in trouble in Weed because he saw a woman's red dress and wanted to let it, like he did with all the mice. The woman screamed and Lennie panicked, and held on tighter. The woman eventually got free and claimed that she was raped. Men set out to find Lennie and George so they had to wait the day out in an irrigation ditch.

Lennie got in trouble in weed for not letting go of the girls red dress because he thought it felt nice Lennie get's in trouble in Weed for not letting go of a girl's dress so she considers it rape and starts screaming until he let's go, so George and Lennie are chased out of the town of Weed.
