Homework instructions: Post a three point plan (your three main ideas) for TWO of the essay topics in the 'The Truman Show Plans' section of the forum. For the other two topics you must reply to someone else's plan with constructive feedback.
Remember, when planning ask yourself why and how? Look at the key words of the topic to see if you can form three main ideas based on those. Perhaps look at both sides of the topic and then expand on one of those sides, or add a third side. Ask yourself, if I was to respond to this topic in a three stage conversation, what would those three stages be?
Here is one of the four topics:
Christof says that, 'If he (Truman) was absolutely determined to discover the truth, there is no way we could prevent him from leaving.' To what extent do you agree?

1. Truman, when being 'spontaneous,' decides to go on a holiday one night, forcing Meryl to get in the car and taking off. Truman had already become suspicious of everything he knows being fake, and isn't surprised when every road he tries to take out of Seahaven becomes suddenly blocked, forcing him to stay in Seahaven and remain unawear of the truth
2. The seemingly 'perfect' world Christof has created is made this way inorder to keep Truman within the walls of Seahaven, as he uses the actors to prevent Truman from finding out that his life is simply a TV show. This is highlighted when Marlin, Truman's 'best friend' says, "if there in on it, that means I have to be in on it too. I'd never lie to you Truman."
3. The neighbours dog and the death of Trumans father creates a physical barrier that keeps Truman from finding out the truth, as the neighbours dog literally forces Truman to walk back, toward his home, and the death of his dad creates his fear of water, with Seahaven continently being surrounded by water

1. The Truman Show is ultimately a web of lies that everyone has a part in upholding and continuing. The cast has microphones in their ears so they can be feed lies to tell Truman, there are blocks put put to stop Truman on his escape out of Seahaven.
2. People in Seahaven turn Truman in the opposite direction when he is heading towards finding the truth. People he him that he is wrong when he sees his father on the street and wish him away and Sylvia is taken away from him as well when she tries to tell him the truth.
3. The only way for him to leave is to outsmart the people in Seahaven and people in the command centre. He learns this 'perfect' world that he lives in is all a set up as he starts to pick up the little flaws in their charade such as when he hears people in the control room talking or when Meryl says "someone help me".

I think your order is really good, and I like the was you included evidence. Another piece of evidence for 3 might be that when he spots people behind the elevator.

1. Truman, seemingly out of nowhere, decides to go on a spur of the moment holiday but is blocked by cars, road stops and bridges but passes these until he gets to the supposed spill at the nuclear plant which results in him being captured and he doesn't find out the truth.
2. Christof has used the actors in certain ways to make it so Truman stays on the island for example, his father dying. This resulted in him having a fear of water which was a smart move by Christof because Seahaven is surrounded by water so now a barrier has been created between Truman and the outside world. The other actors like Truman's friend marlin and his mother try to convince him that things are real.
3. Christof has quickly put a stop to the people that tried to tell Truman the truth about Seahaven and his life such as when they pull Sylvia away from him on the beach to never be seen again and when they pull his father away through the street that is quickly made busy as to stop Truman following them and finding out the truth.

It goes through each of the aspects of the idea in a logical order. I like where the third one is placed because it creates a sort of climax because it is the most effective and interesting point. Well done!

1. On a a variety of occasions in 'The Truman Show' Truman is quite literally forced to stay in Seahaven as the actors and Christof work hard to prevent him from leaving by placing strategic obstacles in his way as he is leaving.
2. By playing well thought-out mind tricks, Truman is forced to stay there as Christof uses all of his effort to create mental feelings such as fear, happiness or misery. These feelings prevent him from leaving Seahaven.
3. Truman's life is based around the perfect world, however he knows little of the lies that he is being told to keep him in Seahaven. These lies are created by all the people who live in or around The Truman Show.

To what extent do you agree? 1. Seahaven was designed-by the movie makers and Cristoff- to be the perfect paradise location. This was created for Truman so it would be apparent that he would not want to leave and go to Fiji, like he plans throughout the movie. 2. There are also physical blockages preventing Truman from leaving, such as his fear of the water and everyone's actions when he tries to investigate the truth or stumble into the wrong place at the wrong time. 3. As well as physical blockages, his mental blockages are also keeping him from leaving. His fear of water can be classified as mental because of his traumatic childhood experience, as well as feeling obligated to stay behind and look after his mother.

I really like your points and think they are very thorough. Perhaps you would like to place the second point as the first however, as I think in the chronological order of the film that point may come before hand as he was scared of the water from a very young age. I certainly agree that by removing the people who were influencing Truman to believe it was all 'fake' is removing Truman's ability to see the truth.

To what extent do you agree? 1. Christof does not want the lifestyle to end, as he has created a world for Truman to be happy in. Christof is not being honest about having no way to prevent him from leaving. As he controls even the weather, seen at the end by trying to drown Truman to prevent him from escaping. 2. Truman is able to discover his situation so much so to still keep the show airing. All the slip ups are corrected casually through conversations or props to confuse but reassure Truman. He is strongly bound to the current life. 3. Some audience members try to expose the truth to Truman, but is shut away by the tv crew. There is a mix of emotion from the audience, with a for and against to him leaving. The people obsessed over Truman are Christof's priority, so as much is preventing him from leaving. Such as the water and vehicles breaking down.

>Christof would never want Truman to find out the truth as it seems Christof's whole life revolves around the continuity of the show, and Truman fidning the truth would grind the show to a show-stopping hault >Christof goes to extreme measures to make sure Truman never gets to the edges of Seahaven, as Truman drives out of his usual area and gets turned back by a "nuclear powerplant meltdown". Audience and cast members who attempt to step out of their roll to Truman are immediately taken out of the set, leagving Truman dumbfounded. >Christof uses the fear of Truman to keep him inside the walls of Seahaven. He causes a freak storm in the sea to kill off Truman's father, which makes Truman develop a fear of the sea which surrounds Seahaven. This means Truman's fear stopped him everytime he was needed to go upon a boat, and therefore could not discover the truth if he wanted to.

-Truman spontaneously decided to go on a holiday and drive over the bidge but Christof attempts to stop him by creating fire and a fake nuclear spill.
- Christof implements fear into Truman about water, making Truaman to scared to leave the island.
-Whenever someone attempts to tell Truman the truth about his life, Christof removes them quickly from the show with little to no explanation.
