1. Truman, when being 'spontaneous,' decides to go on a holiday one night, forcing Meryl to get in the car and taking off. Truman had already become suspicious of everything he knows being fake, and isn't surprised when every road he tries to take out of Seahaven becomes suddenly blocked, forcing him to stay in Seahaven and remain unawear of the truth 2. The seemingly 'perfect' world Christof has created is made this way inorder to keep Truman within the walls of Seahaven, as he uses the actors to prevent Truman from finding out that his life is simply a TV show. This is highlighted when Marlin, Truman's 'best friend' says, "if there in on it, that means I have to be in on it too. I'd never lie to you Truman." 3. The neighbours dog and the death of Trumans father creates a physical barrier that keeps Truman from finding out the truth, as the neighbours dog literally forces Truman to walk back, toward his home, and the death of his dad creates his fear of water, with Seahaven continently being surrounded by water That is an excellent point about the neighbours dog creating a physical barrier that keeps Truman from finding out the truth, definitely something I hadn't considered.

1. On a a variety of occasions in 'The Truman Show' Truman is quite literally forced to stay in Seahaven as the actors and Christof work hard to prevent him from leaving by placing strategic obstacles in his way as he is leaving. 2. By playing well thought-out mind tricks, Truman is forced to stay there as Christof uses all of his effort to create mental feelings such as fear, happiness or misery. These feelings prevent him from leaving Seahaven. 3. Truman's life is based around the perfect world, however he knows little of the lies that he is being told to keep him in Seahaven. These lies are created by all the people who live in or around The Truman Show. These points make for a great essay. It has a good order and great detail points. In point 3 you make a good argument about how the 'perfect world' is just about lies.

1. Christof continuously prevents Truman from leaving Seahaven. He was so desperate to keep Truman in the show, he made Truman terrified of water by faking his dad's death. 2. Everytime the truth about Truman's life is almost revealed, Christof does everything in his power to cover it up so the lies and manipulation can continue. Therefore, making Truman feel as though there is no reason to leave Seahaven. 3. Even though Christof tried to persuade Truman to stay in Seahaven, he doesn't stop him when Truman walks out the door.

I like the order of your plan because you have strategically planned evidence implanted into your plan and another point would be in the second point to point out briefly some of the point's of what Christof doe's to Truman.

1.Though it is claimed by Christof that there is no way anyone could stop him leaving, Truman is restrained by multiple methods. One of these include his fears and things like thought provoking news paper articles.
2. Truman lives in a safe and sheltered environment, he is hidden from the real problems that would exist in the real society.
3. Truman is entrapped by the people he is surrounded by, when ever an alert is raised about his "reality" the actor or person that revealed it to him are stripped from the show.

I like the point about how Chistof is creating feelings like fear, happiness and misery to keep him in Seahaven.

1. Seahaven is well planned place to shoot a movie. It is so big that if Truman tries to get away through the bridge from the other side of the town, they would cover is quick.
2. With all the weather in Christof's side and the scene of Truman losing his father, made him fear of the water and scared to leave the island.
3. Christof was so smart that if something is letting Truman knowing the truth, he would bring Marlin to cover up the mistakes the other actors made.

1. Christof has created Seahaven a 'seemingly perfect' world for Truman, where he is often being filmed by camera everywhere then made into a television show. Christof wants the television show running, therefore he won't allow Truman to leave.
2. Meryl makes up excuses so Truman will stop thinking about travelling, for example the scene were she asks Truman whether they were going to have a baby. "You want to be an explorer...This'll pass...We all think like this now and then" is a quote used by Meryl, discouraging Truman to leave.
3. Truman has a great fear of water, at a young age he and his father went out on a boat into the ocean. His father then drowns and then that memory stays with Truman. This fear prevents him from going into the ocean and travelling to Fiji.

Homework instructions: Post a three point plan (your three main ideas) for TWO of the essay topics in the 'The Truman Show Plans' section of the forum. For the other two topics you must reply to someone else's plan with constructive feedback. Remember, when planning ask yourself why and how? Look at the key words of the topic to see if you can form three main ideas based on those. Perhaps look at both sides of the topic and then expand on one of those sides, or add a third side. Ask yourself, if I was to respond to this topic in a three stage conversation, what would those three stages be? Here is one of the four topics: Christof says that, 'If he (Truman) was absolutely determined to discover the truth, there is no way we could prevent him from leaving.' To what extent do you agree? 1. Multiple obstacles are presented in Truman's life if he tries to leave, obstacles that are impossible to conquer by himself. 2. Christof manipulates Truman's emotions and fears, disabling Truman from leaving the island. 3. Anyone who attempts to tell Truman the truth about his existence is removed immediately from the show.

1. Truman, seemingly out of nowhere, decides to go on a spur of the moment holiday but is blocked by cars, road stops and bridges but passes these until he gets to the supposed spill at the nuclear plant which results in him being captured and he doesn't find out the truth. 2. Christof has used the actors in certain ways to make it so Truman stays on the island for example, his father dying. This resulted in him having a fear of water which was a smart move by Christof because Seahaven is surrounded by water so now a barrier has been created between Truman and the outside world. The other actors like Truman's friend marlin and his mother try to convince him that things are real. 3. Christof has quickly put a stop to the people that tried to tell Truman the truth about Seahaven and his life such as when they pull Sylvia away from him on the beach to never be seen again and when they pull his father away through the street that is quickly made busy as to stop Truman following them and finding out the truth. I think your plan is ordered well and makes sense and I especially like your 2nd point. Making something tragic happen in Truamn's backstory (such as his father dying) never allowed him to venture past bridges and discover the truth.

Truman slowly discovers that the world he'd known through his whole life revolved around a TV show
Christof, the creator of the show and Seahaven explains that the reason he created this world for Truman is because to protect him from the real world, where everything is perfect in Seahaven
Seahaven is almost a prison towards Truman because no matter what when he tries to leave to go to Fiji Seahaven will do nothing at best to keep him Seahaven so the Truman show can continue.

-Truman spontaneously decided to go on a holiday and drive over the bidge but Christof attempts to stop him by creating fire and a fake nuclear spill. - Christof implements fear into Truman about water, making Truaman to scared to leave the island. -Whenever someone attempts to tell Truman the truth about his life, Christof removes them quickly from the show with little to no explanation. these are really good but i think you could have used camels or a quote to explain the second point a little bit more

Here is one of the four topics: Christof says that, 'If he (Truman) was absolutely determined to discover the truth, there is no way we could prevent him from leaving.' To what extent do you agree? 1. Time and time again Christof has directly prevented Truman from leaving the island. The most mite able of these occurrences was when he tried to go on his spur of the moment holiday to Fiji and is blocked by cars at the bridge and the apparently dangerous nuclear plant. 2. Christof also used much subtler methods to force Truman to stay on the island. Articles in newspapers claimed that sea haven was the 'best place in the world' and the fact he pretty well psychologically scared Truman when his father drowned are examples of this. 3. However, to a certain extent, Truman would have discovered the truth and escaped eventually. If he had persisted over a king period of time they is okay wouldn't have been able to keep him in any longer. Of course then their way out for Truman could've been if he'd gone totally insane, thinking that every second of every day people were watching him, and the show had been cancelled.
