How does Atticus treat Walter, and what does this show about Atticus’ character? What does it show about Walter?

Atticus treats Walter with respect and treats him like an adult, they go on to hold a conversation about farming. This shows that Atticus will forever be the bigger person no matter what situation he will come across, and will treat people with respect no matter their level of wealth/poorness. This also shows that Walter is well mannered and respects what people offer him but will always deny if he is unable to repay.

Walter shows himself to be capable and smart in conversation. yes, it is their point of view but it also means not to treat people in a bad way or judge them just because they are different from others, such as not having much money in this case. Atticus says this to jem and scout because they would not understand what going on with his family unless their experiencing the life Walter is having.
