Why does Jem not want anything to do with Scout at school? Is his behaviour typical of an older child?

I believe that Jem doesn't want to be associated with Scout because she is very smart and that isn't acceptable to most people at school, this may cause Jem to be embarrassed of his little sister. It also may be because it is typically for the older sibling to want independence from the younger one.

Also because Scout would get in to physical fights with others and Jem most likely didn't want to be associated with such behaviour. |

Gem does not want anything to do with Scout at school and her behaviour because he does not want to enbaresed by her and he does not want to associate with her because the typical brother sister thing.

Jem wants to be independent and not have his sister around all the time. This might be because he is in an older grade than her. |

Gem does not want to associated with scout because of her behaviour at school. Jen does not want to be embarrassed, this is a typical brotherly sister thing to do.

Jem changes his attitude towards scout during school because he doesn't want shout to embarrass him, it's typical in half of the sibling population ended now.

I think the main reason isn't because she's smart, as he seemed kind of supportive of that, but because he's her older brother and older siblings don't generally want to hang out with their younger siblings as that may be kind of weird. But it could also be because of her behaviour at school where she would get into fist fights with other students. |

Jem did not want anything to do with Scout at school because he doesn't want to get embarrassed infront of his friends by his younger sister behavior.

Jem doesn't want anything to do with scout at school because he knows that she could read and write and is very clever.
or it could have been how she acted towards Walter how she attack him. He acts as a typical older brother.
