When Jem tells Scout about getting his trousers back, he tells her of something strange. What is this?

Jem tells Scout that he when he went to get his pants back he found them neatly folded and as if someone tried to fix them, he was also able to tell it was a man who had done so due to the uneven stitching.

Jem says to scout that when he was stuck in the wire fence he could not actually get out so when he went back he found his pants folded neatly. Jem could tell that some one tried to fix them because of the stitching being uneven and then he could tell it was done by a man.

Jem had also found that someone had attempted to fix the pants.  It was a bad job as the stitching was uneven

Jem says that his pants were all tangled when he was getting out of them, but when he went back they were folded across the fence as if someone was expecting him. They had also been sewed up, but not like lady would do it as they were all crooked. This is one of the many kindnesses towards the children from Boo Radley.
