Why does Jack so dislike Piggy? Jack dislikes Piggy so much because he is smart. He points out the flaws in their plans and this makes Jack angry. Piggy is a voice of reason and he alone seems to be able to see the bigger picture; that they might not be rescued. Jack also dislikes piggy because THEYRE on a completely different social level, he was the captain of the choir and Piggy was just Piggy. Jack calls him names like "fatty," presumably because he has very little respect for poor Piggy.

Jack doesn't like Piggy because he is used to everyone following his orders, no matter what they are. Piggy, however doesn't follow him and has a more realistic view on everything and isn't afraid to stand up for what he thinks is right. Jack is afraid that the boys will start believing what Piggy says because he is more responsible and makes the boys think for themselves. I don't think Jack is afraid of the boys believing Piggy, I think he is afraid of his power being lost among the group. He also believes Piggy is a waste of space, and what he says wastes everyones time.

Why does Jack so dislike Piggy? Jack dislikes piggy because he is used to being in charge and being the leader and having everyone obey him and listen to what he has to say. Piggy does not do this and he is opposed to jacks thinking. Piggy makes the boys think for themselves and not follow and believe everything jack says or does and this is taking away from jacks superiority. I agree, Piggy's experiences have taught him to be extremely cautious in survival situations amd Jack is very "run and gun". Piggy seems to be having problems with both leadership personalities in the group.

Why does Jack so dislike Piggy? Jack dislikes Piggy because he sees him as utterly useless. Jack values leadership through strength and power, while Piggy values leadership through knowledge and wisdom. They are polar opposites, resulting in Piggy being abused by Jack's power.

Why does Jack so dislike Piggy? Jack dislikes piggy because he is used to everybody listening to his orders and not questioning him. Piggy however does not like to follow jacks orders and opinions. The fact that Piggy ignores Jack makes Jack look bad and brings down what others think of him. Jack feels threatened by Piggy because Piggy has the knowledge to take Jacks leadership away. Piggy also has a realistic approach to everything and makes the other boys think for themselves. I agree, Jack and Piggy have very different opinions of what makes a leader. Jack is used to everyone obeying him without question, so when Piggy resists or offers a different opinion, Jack detests him and sees him as a threat.

Jack probably sees Piggy as useless. Even though Simon said that Piggy proved himself useful when lighting the fire, it was Jack's idea to use Piggy's glasses and all Piggy did was complain about not being able to see. Jack doesn't notice Piggy's intelligence because every time Piggy opens his mouth to say something, Jack stops listening. They are very different boys. Jack and Piggy are very different in almost all ways. Jack has always been in a group with people looking up to him. Piggy does not follow Jack's lead, which is abnormal for Jack. Because of this, Jack won't allow other people to be more like Piggy by treating him badly and disrespectfully. With Jack's social status, no one is brave enough to stand up against Jack, which encourages him.

He likes and is used to being in charge and having people listen and follow him. Jack sees himself as a strong leader whom everyone should follow blindly. Having someone speak up is something he isn't used to and subsequently he doesn't like it. I agree. Jack seems to want to control everyone but is unable to control Piggy and what he says to the group of boys. Piggy is very intelligent and has some good ideas but because she is someone Jack doesn't want to deal with, he shuts him up before he has time to say anything that could help them.

Why does Jack so dislike Piggy? Apart from disliking Piggy's appearance, like every other boy on the island, Jack dislikes Piggy because he's from a lower social status than him. Jack has strong leadership qualities and doesn't seem interested in socialising with any of the other boys apart from Ralph, who is also a leader. Jack doesn't see Piggy as somebody who would make a good leader. Since Piggy is always trying to contribute his own ideas to the group, Jack might see him as somebody who's trying to steal a position of leadership. He doesn't like this so he tries to silence him every time he speaks. Jack may also feel threatened since Piggy is clearly more intelligent than him, and could feel that his leadership role amongst the other boys is in jeopardy because of Piggy's ideas.

bJack does not like Piggy because their personalities are so different, and it is natural for people with very different personalities to dislike each other. Piggy is intelligent, logical and likes to discuss issues, whereas Jack is bossy and likes to make decisions by himself without consulting other people.
