What is Piggy trying to get them to think about in the meeting? During the meeting, Piggy tries to prove a point that while people outside of the island knew where they were meant to be, no one knew where they actually were, because they had never reached that location, and that because no one knew where they were, they may be there for a long time.

Piggy had quite a valid point during this meeting. People will obviously realise they are missing, but that doesn't mean they will know where to find them. Piggy just wants the rest of the kids to have a more realistic outlook on this situation. He wants them to understand that no one knows where they could be because they never arrived at there destination.

What is Piggy trying to get them to think about in the meeting? During the meeting Piggy presents the reality that nobody knows where they are. "Perhaps they knew where we were going to; and perhaps not. But they don't know where we are 'cos we never got there." Piggy wants the others to think about the fact that even though the people at the airport knew where they were heading it is doubtful that they know where they are.

Piggy tries to get the boys to realize that nobody knows where they are, and they should start acting that way because they could be on the island for a long time. "But they don't know where we are 'cos we never got there."

What is Piggy trying to get them to think about in the meeting? Piggy explains to the group at the meeting that they are alone on this island and that no one could possibly know they were there. "Who knows we're here? Eh?" He is the first person to explain this however, he does say that it is a good island with fruit and flowers but before he has the chance to explain they need to make a shelter the boys have gone to light a fire. Piggy says that they could be on the island for quite some time and wants everyone to realise that and be prepared. Piggy explains to the boys that people knew where they were going but would not know where they are because they never reached their destination.

The situation would obviously be different if people outside knew where they had landed however as they never reached their destination it would be difficult to tell where they had crashed. So he is correct in saying they could be there for some time while people search.

So he is correct in saying they could be there for some time while people search. If Piggy can get the idea that they may not be rescued soon and their stay on the island may be a long one, then this will encourage the boys to work harder to make life on the island more comfortable. The boys may not take the time of making good shelters or developing easier ways to get food if they are caught up in the idea that they could be rescued any day, which could result in problems due to exposure and starvation.

"But they don't know where we are 'cos we never got there." Piggy has a very valid point in that yes that the airport knew where they were going and where they going to land, the airport just wouldn't know were they crashed and they also wouldn't know where to start looking.

Piggy wants to slap the boys with a palm full of reality as he tries to explain to the boys that the grown ups would have no idea where they are currently located, as they only know where they left and where they were headed to, but not where they ended up. He wants everyone to get into the mindset that a long stay could very well be iminent,

What is Piggy trying to get them to think about in the meeting? Piggy, being the realist he is, is trying to prove the point that despite Ralph’s enthusiasm, no one actually knows where the boys are. The adults can try looking for them, but there is no guarantee that anyone will fine them. As Piggy points this out, the rest of the boys start to develop an understanding of the seriousness of the situation they are in, as does Ralph.

What is Piggy trying to get them to think about in the meeting? Piggy is trying to prove the point and tell the boys that in reality nobody is aware or has any idea where the boys are, he wants the boys to know that they need to start realising they might be on the island for some time and they need to start acting like it.

Piggy tries to get the boys to realize that nobody knows where they are, and they should start acting that way because they could be on the island for a long time. "But they don't know where we are 'cos we never got there." i think piggy's statement was very validated and necessary. His actions to try and get the boys to realise what was going on was very mature and a very realistic approach to the situation considering his age.

What is Piggy trying to get them to think about in the meeting? Once again Piggy proves his logic, he is the one to point out to the others that the people of the outside world will not know their exact location. He tells the group that they may know roughly where they are but not to an exact point. This is dismissed soon by Jack. The boys may be alone on the island for a long time.....

Piggy wants the other boys to be as cautious as he is, but he cannot get through to him.
