When Scout says, "By watching [Calpurnia] I began to think there was some skill in being a girl" the text reveals that being ladylike and acting the way a girl was expected to, at the time, wasn't as easy as you'd think it was. Society at the time had the idea that being a girl was easy and all about dresses and tea parties but Scout discovers that there's some work that has to be put into it, especially for a maid like Calpurnia.

When Scout 'began to think there was some skill in being a girl', this reveals that despite what society norms tell us, it is very hard to "be a girl". Scout might've believed that being a girl was wearing pink frilly dresses, being polite and not fighting, but after watching Calpurnia, she realises it's much more difficult than one would think.

I agree with what you say. She might think that there are important qualities a girl needs to be a normal girl. But also, it actually takes practise to do jobs which women are doing in that time.

What does the text reveal when Scout says in Chapter 12, "[By watching [Calpurnia] I began to think there was some skill in being a girl"? Scout is beginning to realise that being a woman may also have its perks. She can see now the hard work that goes into cooking and cleaning. Scout can see a delicate use of built up skill that is required and can pay credit to that fact. Being a girl is no longer going out in frilly dresses but hard work and making your keep.

What does the text reveal when Scout says in Chapter 12, "[By watching [Calpurnia] I began to think there was some skill in being a girl"? Scout realises that "there was some skill in being a girl", as she possibly had always believed that being a girl was easy, however she noticed that being polite, friendly and ladylike proved to be quite difficult.

They are all good points. I also think Scout admired all of the hard work Calpurnia puts into cooking and cleaning, which were jobs women would usually do in the 1930s.

I definitely agree with this. I think she thought that cleaning and cooking was all that women did but she learns this isn't so. I feel Calpurnia has warmed to Scout more since they have spent more time together and has been a bit more of a mother figure to her by comforting her and spending time with her.

When Scout says this, I think it reveals that being a girl isn't as easy as she had imagined. I think that Scout thought it was all about looking nice, being proper and not mucking around, when really it involves more skill. I also think that possibly watching Calpurnia working around her house doing things such as cleaning and cooking, Scout puts this in the category of a girls job and begins to think it could be hard work.

I think Scout begun to admire the dedication it was to be a girl as there is "some skill in being a girl". She begins to realise that a girl isn't just wearing dresses, and being charming towards other people. At that day and age, women were expected to do a lot more and have a lot more skill in certain areas, especially as a maid, and Scout had not realised that until that moment.

When scout says, "[By watching [Calpurnia] I began to think there was some skill in being a girl", it's showing that Scout realises that being a lady isn't all about wearing floral dress and being polite, it is actually harder than she thinks it is.

I agree with you on how women needed other skills in certain areas like doing housework and being a maid, and it wasn't all about the dresses and being polite.

When Scout says, "[By watching [Calpurnia] I began to think there was some skill in being a girl", she had just come to the realisation that all the jobs that a maid does, at the time, came under what a woman should do. Now that she has taken that into account and that being a women isn't all about wearing frilly dresses, tea parties and being polite, she gives the female gender credit where it is due.

When scout says , "[By watching [Calpurnia] I began to think there was some skill in being a girl", she begins to feel more feminine, as her womanly influence is someone relate able and kind. It reveals to us that it isn't so much that Scout doesn't want to be a girl, its that because without a feminine influence while she was growing up, being a women is a foreign concept.
