Chapters ten and eleven are the last two chapters in the first part of the book. Explain why you think Harper Lee chooses to end the first part here.

It seems logical as the first part is about the children's curiosity in boo and the Ridley place and the second part is bout the Tom Robinson trial.

I agree because it highlights the importance of both parts to the story. He is trying to show the difference between each section especially cause he is writing about two sections.

Alongside this, Miss Dubose had recently passed away at the ending of the first part. Her death symbolises the loss of innocence in scout's world view as she has never witnessed someone in the neighbourhood die. Scout would be shocked into reality because of this event.

Part one is all about the kids and it focuses on the children. Part two is about Tom Robinson's trial. Harper Lee chose to end the first part because Jem and Scout are getting smarter so it is a perfect chapter to end the first part.

[ So the focuses of the book are changing as there are a number of stories in one which need to be sectioned for impact .

Harper Lee chooses to end the first part of the book at chapter 10 as it signifies the end of one section of life into a more mature section. Where Scout and Jem are almost forced to grow up, Scout witnesses a death of someone she knew, it's the start of Tom's trial where Scout and Jem learn about inequality and discrimination.

The children's curiosity in boo and the Ridley place and the second part is bout the Tom Robinson trial. He chose to write it this way as it seems as though the children are getting smarter as the book progresses
