Read the first two things Alexandra says when she comes to the Finch house. Are these typical of her or not? Why?

When arriving at the Finch's household, Aunt Alexandra says, "Put my bag in the front bedroom, Calpurnia" and "Jean Louise, stop scratching your head". These two statements are very typical for her character as it conveys a sense of authority. She would want to be the one who commands others in the house despite only just arriving. The way she demands that Calpurnia take her luggage to her room shows her view on the social hierarchy in the house.

Aunt Alexandra's first few words show her personality and true colours as she likes to take control of others to gain ownership. This is a typical comment as she is very opinionated and says what she thinks and what she wants to say.

Aunt Alexandra enters the Finch's household in a demanding tone, "Put my bag in the front bedroom, Calpurnia" this resembles the power and disrespect that the whites uphold over the African-American maids. Aunt Alexandra then turns and says, "Jean Louise, stop scratching your head" which also displays her outrage on her niece acting in what she believes not to be lady-like. These typical comments reflect on the sort of person Aunt Alexandra is viewed as which is very opinionated.
