Why does Alexandra think Atticus should dismiss Calpurnia? How does Atticus respond to the suggestion and why?

Aunt Alexandra feels bitter towards calpurnia as she is a coloured woman and she believes that having her around is a bad influence on Scout and wants her to be gone. Yet, Atticus explains that he wouldn't have been able to survive without her all of these years and that "she is a faithful member of the family", and that she isn't leaving until she wants to.

Alexandra think Atticus should dismiss Calpurnia because she can cook and look after Jem and Scout, just like Calpurnia.

Because Aunt Alexandra thinks it is a bad influence on scout as she is coloured, Atticus wants to keep her because she is almost family now.

Aunt Alexandra believes that Calpurnia can do everything she can and she is trying to assert her 'ideal' household. Atticus responds by saying that he wouldn't have been able to survive all these years without Calpurnia and will never dismiss her, but she has the option of leaving whenever she wants.

Alexandra wanted Atticus to dismiss Calpurnia because she thinks that as she was there she could do what Calpurnia dose, for instance looking after the finch family. Atticus said no to Alexandra because she is like family to them. Where as Alexandra is very bossy an pad wants to command somethings even though it is not her choice because it is not her household it is atticus's decision.

Aunt Alexandra disapproves of Calpurnia because she is a coloured women and that she can do all the jobs that Calpurnia is doing so they wouldn't need her.

Aunt Alexandra believes that now that she is there, the family no longer needs Calpurnia. She also believes that Calpurnia hasn't done a very good job at turning Scout into a lady, and that she could do a better job. But Atticus disagrees as he believes Calpurnia is a part of the family.
