Scout feels as though jam is growing apart from her, but when jam fights she feels as though he still loves her Scout gets concerned when she sees Jem involving himself in adult-like behaviour, and it makes her think something is wrong with him. But when he fights her back, she sees that Jem can still act childish and that he still sees her as an equal in some respect.
