What persuades the lynching-party to give up their attempt on Tom's life and why?

The lynching party gave up their attempt on tom's life because as scout and Jem and dill hadn't listened to Atticus they sneked to the jail and as they were ther Atticus was scared seeing them there because he didn't want the kids to approch heck Tate, because they were planing to kill to Robinson. The kid made heck Tate back away and that's why the lynching didn't commence.

The kid made heck Tate back away and that's why the lynching didn't commence. They also gave up because the party saw Scouts' innocence and humanity. The party would not want to lynch someone is there were kids about. This caused them to back off and reconsider their decision about Tom Robinson's lynching. |

Scout, Jem and Dill disobeyed Atticus' orders of staying home as they snuck out and went to the jail where they were killing Robinson. So they gave up because when heck Tate approached and treatened to hurt Atticus, Scout ran out of their hiding place and stopped heck Tate with the her innocence while asking if the have any humanity.

The innocence of a child still shines through even when life is at its worst. Even Heck Tate couldn't hurt another human in front of a child.
