Need for justice
-wealth and poverty creates social inequality "because that is the only way he can pay me. He has no money"
-dolphus Raymond has to pretend to be drunk because of the racist beliefs of Maycomb "I tried to give em a reason you see. It helps folks if they can latch onto a reason...folks can say Dolphus Raymond's in the clutches of whiskey that's why he won't change his ways...that's why he lives the way he does"
-Tom Robinson was never going to win the court case "when it's a white mans word against a black mans, the white man always wins."

Fighting for justice
-atticus defends Tom Robinson in court "I'm simply defending a negro"
-atticus defends calpurnia against aunt Alexandra "I couldn't have got along without her all these years" "she's a faithful member of this family and you'll simply have to accept things the way they are"
