What assumptions does Jem make in forming his theory about Boo Radley? Integrate a quote into your response. He begins to assume that for all this time, Boo has stayed shut up inside the house "because he wants to stay inside." This is because boo doesn't want to face the community which is nasty to each other and can't get along, even if they should be equals.

Jem deciding that Boo stays inside simply "because he wants to stay inside," symoblises that he is starting to think in broader ways, rather than holding onto the childlike assumption that there is some hige mystery surrounding Boo's withdrawal from society. This is significant because even some of the adults enjoyed making idle gossip about Boo's situation, while Jem recognises he should be left to his own devices even though he is still young.

I agree, I also think Boo wouldn't want to go outside because he's scared of the injustice and prejudice in town.

What assumptions does Jem make in forming his theory about Boo Radley? Integrate a quote into your response. For the first time Jem believed that Boo stayed in his house because "he wants to stay inside". This is just one of the opinions that Jem forms as he rapidly matures.

What assumptions does Jem make in forming his theory about Boo Radley? Integrate a quote into your response. Jem makes the assumption that, "[Boo] wants to stay inside." This could suggest that Boo is sick of the ill treatment and injustice going on in Maycomb, to the point that he wants no part in it.

This also really shows how the book is a coming-of-age novel as we see how the characters grow and mature through it all.

What assumptions does Jem make in forming his theory about Boo Radley? Integrate a quote into your response. Jem seems to have grown from the beginning of the novel when he was fascinated by the idea of Boo being locked up and stabbing his mother to the young man who now has realised that "he wants to stay inside."

I agree that even the adults of the community gossip about the Radley house while Jem has come to the logically conclusion about why Boo Radley does what he does.

Jem deciding that Boo stays inside simply "because he wants to stay inside," symoblises that he is starting to think in broader ways, rather than holding onto the childlike assumption that there is some huge mystery surrounding Boo's withdrawal from society. This is significant because even some of the adults enjoyed making idle gossip about Boo's situation, while Jem recognises he should be left to his own devices even though he is still young. Jem's assumption that Boo stays inside because he wants to stay inside suggests that Boo knows what it is like to be involved in society, however he doesn't think about the fact that maybe Boo has no idea what it is like outside and is too scared to find out.

What assumptions does Jem make in forming his theory about Boo Radley? Integrate a quote into your response. Jem assumes that Boo "wants to stay inside" because he, like Jem, thinks that everyone is cruel, horrible, and each "go out of their way to despise each other".

This is because boo doesn't want to face the community which is nasty to each other and can't get along, even if they should be equals. I agree and this also shows how Jem has matured and begins to understand that there is no grand mystery behind Boo Radley and that he may simply want to stay inside.

What assumptions does Jem make in forming his theory about Boo Radley? Integrate a quote into your response. Jem for the first time thinks that Boo stays inside all the time "because he wants to stay inside."

What assumptions does Jem make in forming his theory about Boo Radley? Integrate a quote into your response. Jem assumes that Boo stays inside the house simply because "he wants to". There isn't a huge mystery behind this decision and Jem realising this shows that he is growing up and maturing.
