Why does Jem become furious when Scout makes reference to the trial? Integrate a quote into your response.

Why does Jem become furious when Scout makes reference to the trial? Integrate a quote into your response. Jem becomes angry because he "was trying hard to forget something, but what he was really doing was storing it away for a while". He's not ready to talk about the trial, and cannot control his emotions.

I agree and I think Jem still finds it hard to deal with guilty verdict delivered because Tom Robinson was clearly not in the wrong; and everyone knew this too.

He's not ready to talk about the trial, and cannot control his emotions. I think this relates back to the fact as he is still just an innocent child, and unfairness and inequality are still concepts they are trying to learn how people deal with them as adults, even though as children you are taught it is wrong.

Jem gets angry because he is "trying hard to forget something." He is not yet ready to discuss the trial. Jem is only now realising the bias opinion shown but a large percentage of the town, he is beginning to mature in a way that allows him to see right from wrong.

Why does Jem become furious when Scout makes reference to the trial? Integrate a quote into your response. He becomes angry because he still has strong feelings about what happened and doesn't want to talk about it. as scout says, "Jem was trying hard to forget something".

Jem becomes furious because the trial had really upset him. He didn't want to talk about it or even be reminded of it because he "was storing it away for a while, until enough time passed".

He's not ready to talk about the trial, and cannot control his emotions. I don't think Jem's ready to accept that his community did something so unfair and wrong when they prosecuted Tom Robinson, so he's trying to forget about it until he's able to handle it without getting angry.
