By Link Deas protecting Helen from Bob Ewell to 'leave his girl alone', shows us that Mr Link Deas felt 'right bad about what happened' and felt sorry for Helen, obviously having no income for herself and children, therefore employing her, despite not needing her services.

I defintely agree with this. Link Deas shows alot of compassion throug keeping Helen on at his house, even though he didn'y really need her and probably couldn't really afford to pay her. This action shows how the Maycomb community is progressing.

This action was very kind and thoughtful, and could even perhaps signal that the citizens of Maycomb are changing.

What does it show about Link Deas that he confronts Bob Ewell over his treatment of Helen? Integrate a quote into your response. Link Deas confronting Bob Ewell over his treatment of Helen shows that Mr. Link has manners, and is empathetic over Tom's death, feeling it is the most he can do. He promises that if Bob Ewell hurt Helen he would "have [him] in jail before sundown".

So he protects Helen because Tom couldn't be. This empathy is also courageous.

I agree with your point. This could mean that the people of Maycomb are becoming less prejudice.

Link tells Bob Ewell to "leave his girl alone", which shows that Link is a caring person who sees Negroes as people who deserve to be treated well and equally. He feels sorry for Helen after all she has been through and wants to help her and her family.

What does it show about Link Deas that he confronts Bob Ewell over his treatment of Helen? Integrate a quote into your response. Link Deas feels sorry for what happened to Helen and cares about her a lot. He doesn't refer to her as another one of his employees but instead calls her "my girl Helen" and I think this shows that he's a close friend to her regardless of her race.
