The courts of hearts are more emotional and open about their opinions because no one is there to judge, while the court where Tom was tried had to be less opinionated and more rationalized.

The courts of hearts are more emotional and open about their opinions because no one is there to judge, while the court where Tom was tried had to be less opinionated and more rationalized. When scout said " the secret courts of men's hearts" she meant that as her father Atticus had done what he could do for Tom he would still not succeed.
