How does Scout make sense of an earlier remark of Atticus's as she stands on the Radley porch?

By standing on the Radley's porch, Scout realizes that the neighborhood never had understand Boo Radley such as Jem and Scout does. Scout escorts Boo Radley back to his house, as she stands on his porch she looks out to at the street, and sees the street as Boo Radley would've been watching for so many years. She now realizes "Boo was our neighbour. He gave us two soap dolls, a broken watch and chain, a pair of good-luck pennies, and our lives. But neighbours give in return. We never put back into the tree what we took out of it: we had given him nothing, and it made [Scout] sad." She realizes the generosity and kindness shown by Boo Radley.

She realizes the generosity and kindness shown by Boo Radley. “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view — until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” It was this quote that Scout had been told earlier by her Dad and it was not until standing on Boo Radley's porch that she really understood it.
