Jack got angry when he couldn't catch the pig because he vowed to himself that he wouldn't let the next one get away in chapter 1. He wants to prove himself to the group that he is useful and superior, as well as to himself tht he is a capable survivalist.

Jack is angry that he can't kill a pig because he could have easily gotten one before, but got to scared. He said there'd be no mercy next time as he wants to prove himself to the other boys. But now Jack is having difficulty finding and killing another. I think that Jack also wans to prove to himself that he is capable to hunt for his group, and that he is a useful person in the group with authority. Getting the meat would definitely prove useful and gain you power as it is essential.

Why is Jack angry at his failure to catch a pig? Jack is angry and disappointed at his failure in catching a pig. He had the perfect chance when they first arrived and he let it go. Jack feels as though he now needs to redeem himself and make up for his inability to kill the animal when he had the chance. I also think that Jack feels as though catching a pig will gain the other boys trust and admiration, as leader of the hunters, so being not able to catch one would make him feel not very highly of himself. I think that is right. As he was always good at what he did in England, it gave him satisfaction and admiration(e.g. being able to sing high C#). When he can't do a task like this, it would make him angry and regret not being able to kill the pig on the first opportunity.

Jack is angry at his failure to catch a pig probably because he had a chance previously to kill one, but let it get away with the promise he would strike next time. He wants to prove himself to the other boys ( As well as himself) and show that he isn't too weak to kill and is a worthy leader of the hunters. Ralph also seems mad at Jack, as he has been trying to hunt whilst he and Simon were building shelters and he was unable to secure them any edible meat. Ralph could be seeing that jack is spending all his time hunting with no results and could be spending his time helping with the shelters.

Yeah you can really see how jack wants to show and prove himself to the group that he a useful member by killing one of the pigs. You can also see that Ralph is mad at Jack because him and simon are building shelters and jack is going out to hunt but coming back with nothing.

Why is Jack angry at his failure to catch a pig? He is mad when he is unable to catch the pig because he previously had the chance to kill one but stalled before he could strike and so he promised that he would kill it next time. He wants to kill it because it would show that he is a leader and a strong character and he wants to show the boys that he is not weak.

Why is Jack angry at his failure to catch a pig? Jack is angry that he hasn't been able to catch a pig because of his previous encounter with a pig. The last time he had the chance to kill a pig he was to afraid to cut live flesh. he was embarrassed about this and promised himself and the other boys that he WILL kill a pig the next time he has the opportunity. He wants to prove to the boys that he can catch a pig so he can be seen as a leader. I agree that Jack wants to prove to the boys that he's as a leader but I think that another reason why he's so angry with himself with not killing a pig is that he's failing to prove to himself that he's a capable hunter. He might also be frustrated with the pig because it's difficult for him to kill it, which is making him feel like he's powerless over it. This is bad for him since he's so used to making his choir do whatever he wanted, and now he's suddenly not getting his way.

Jack is angry about failing to kill the pig because he had an oppurtinity right in front of him but he let it slip away. His failure makes him seem weak, and he wants to prove himself and show that he can lead the hunters well, for what good is a hunter who can't even bring himself to kill?
