What function is served by the narrator describing how the neighbourhood looked to her after she dropped Boo off at home?

I think the narrator is trying to summarise the novel by looking back at the neighbourhood and describing how it looked and what events she remembered happening there.

By describing the town, the narrator closes off the book by leaving us with an image of the town after all of the maddness of the court trial. It helps us visualise everything that has happened.

It is a great way to wrap up the novel in a way that leaves the reader sound minded knowing the outcomes of many things.
