How has the fear of the unknown, "the beastie," resurfaced? Jack mentions that when he's out hunting, it almost feels as though something is there, like he's the one being hunted. The youngest boys at night appear terrified of the beastie, and it is a word that they feel is better left unmentioned.

How has the fear of the unknown, "the beastie," resurfaced? Jack describes a feeling when he's out in the woods, like something is watching and following him. The younger boys, or litl'uns, talk and scream in their sleeps about the "beastie," and it is voiced that maybe the island is 'bad.' For these reasons the boys are determined to finish the huts, so they can have a real home and hopefully be protected from this monster.

How has the fear of the unknown, "the beastie," resurfaced? Jack mentions the feeling of being followed he experienced as he out hunting. He suddenly feels as though he is the hunted, "the beastie" has re surfaced. Suddenly "beastie" is a word not to be said, as it brings thoughts of evil and terrible to the boys minds. Now not only the younger boys are experiencing fear.

Ralph wants to build shelters to make the other boys feel protected from "the beastie". He says that some boys talk and scream in their sleep about the snakes. Jack talks about how he feels as though he is being followed, and possibly hunted, in the forest. Snake has become a word that isn't mentionable because it brings fear, making the boys think that the island could be bad.

Jack mentions that when he is out hunting he feels that something is following him, "you can feel as if you're not hunting, but being hunted." The younger boys talki and even scream in their sleep about a 'beastie', as if it wasn't a good island.

This time when fear strikes, it is also among the elders of the group; especially Jack.

How has the fear of the unknown, "the beastie," resurfaced? Once Jack returns from hunting for pigs, he recalls to Ralph and Simon a feeling which he encounters while out in the forest. He says "You can feel as though you are not hunting, but-being hunted." This corresponds with the details the younger boys provided when speaking about "The Beastie" and by having the older boys now feel and be aware of another thing possibly on the island, it suddenly becomes something that could be more true than before. Jack almost feels ashamed that he recalls this feeling to the other boys and it is something that he cant exactly describe. After the disappearance of the younger boy with the birth mark, "The Beastie" has not been talked about until now.

Jack mentions when he is out hunting for food he feels like he is being watched by something. The younger boys talk about the beastie at night and the feel like they shouldn't mention that name again.

How has the fear of the unknown, "the beastie," resurfaced? There is a fear of the "Beastie" that has been going around. At first it was the little boys being terrified and telling Ralph, their leader, about it. However Ralph reacted to this poorly. Now, even Jack who is one of the older boys and leaders has been mentioning about how whenever he goes out hunting, it doesn't feel like he is hunting, more feels like he is being hunted. The younger ones have also been known to talk and scream about the "Beastie" in their sleep.

I really think they should try put their heads together more so they can finish the huts quicker, therefore everyone can sleep safer. From what I have read, not many people are pitching in with the huts, even the ones who are actually scared of the "beastie".

How has the fear of the unknown, "the beastie," resurfaced? The fear of the "beastie" has come back, but this time the older boys are also concerned. When Jack is out hunting he felt as if something was watching him and instead of being the hunter he was the one being hunted. Some of the boys are starting to think the island is bad and full of monsters and "beasties".

Also it is interesting how now even the older boys are starting to get scared of the beasties, even when they were the ones who said they didn't exist.

How has the fear of the unknown, "the beastie," resurfaced? Some of the boys continue to be frightened of 'the beastie', even though Ralph has denied it repeatedly. The problem has resurfaced through the young ones' dreams, and is confirmed by Jack, when he admits that he can feel a presence in the forest, 'as if something's behind you all the time', and he can relate to how everyone is feeling. Their answer is to be rescued as soon as possible; yet Jack only wishes to kill a wild pig.
