What effect does the 'warpaint' on his face have on Jack? Can you think of other examples in society when people experience this sensation?

When Jack put they clay on it acted as mask, and he could hide behind it. It separated him from his actions as he no longer felt remorse, shame or guilt. I think that in society most people wear 'masks' in a sense that we change personalities in different situations.

What effect does the 'warpaint' on his face have on Jack? Can you think of other examples in society when people experience this sensation? The 'warpaint' allows Jack to hide behind a mask. Thus, he felt able to hide certain feelings, making him more dangerous to the other boys. An example of this in society would be people who are depressed or unhappy who wear a 'mask' to hide what they are feeling.

What effect does the 'warpaint' on his face have on Jack? Can you think of other examples in society when people experience this sensation? The warpaint on Jack's face makes him feel powerful, shameless, and wicked. This mask distinguishes Jack as the leader, and the hunters both fear and worship his appearance and yearning for blood. Other examples in society are when people put on a mask to be accepted by others, and feel powerful because of this.

I think it is a very interesting point that you related the fact of wearing a mask to hide feelings such as feeling upset. I agree with it. It is interesting how much this book relates back to real world situations, as in the world outside of the island.

I think Jack thinks that by having a mask on he is able to be the person he wants to be and not the one that will be remembered for not killing the pig but also by having a mask on he will get treated differently by the other boys because he will have a bigger impact on them because he will have a new sense of authority. By having a mask on he is able to have a different identity and is able to hide behind it. When people in society do this, it is often because they want to feel more powerful or wear a mask to help them to be a different person around people. When people put on a mask and wear it for too long, they might find it difficult to take it off and i think this will happen with Jack.

What effect does the 'warpaint' on his face have on Jack? Can you think of other examples in society when people experience this sensation? Jack sees the war paint as a mask that makes him powerful and wicked. In saying that this mask is powerful, he could be wearing the mask to be hiding from something. Jack is wearing a mask to hide is feelings, similar to how victims of bullying put up a mask to make people think they are ok.

What effect does the 'warpaint' on his face have on Jack? Can you think of other examples in society when people experience this sensation? The "warpaint" on Jack transforms him into a person he chooses to be. It makes him look fierce and gives off the impression of being tough and a hunter. With the paint on him, it gives him power and control over the people. If they continue to behave like this to Jack, he could adopt the face as his own so he is listened to more. In society, I think people cover up their personality and replace it with a fictional replacement for their job (i.e media related, formal, security), or when something is hidden (i.e fear, guilt, sadness) to suit the situation.

What effect does the 'warpaint' on his face have on Jack? Can you think of other examples in society when people experience this sensation? The "warpaint" gives Jack an opportunity to seperate himself from the qualities he doesn't like about himself. With the mask on, Jack is able to see himself as the person he wants to be on the island. He becomes more blood-thirsty and aggressive and he believes that they are the qualities that will make him thrive on the island. I think that people who are famous and known to the public would also have a mask of sorts. They most likely would put on a front so as to seem more likeable and they would be completely different in person without the front.

I think that in society most people wear 'masks' in a sense that we change personalities in different situations. People wear masks so they can become and dfferent person and do anything they please and no one would know who they are. You can see that Jack wears the face clay mask to show to the pig that it is a different thing that he sees, so the pig doesnn't see a human, it sees clay markings, so then jack can sneak up

What effect does the 'warpaint' on his face have on Jack? Can you think of other examples in society when people experience this sensation? The war paint acts as a mast for Jack, and suddenly, he doesn't feel self conscious and feels almost invincible. I think that lots of people feel this was whilst online. They feel that they can hide behind a screen and do or say whatever they want to. It's almost a sociopathic state we seem to fall into, when we can do the wrong thing, without the guilty feeling.

In Jacks situation he wears the mask, or war paint, as it makes him feel like he can kill the pig without thinking twice, unlike the situation the first time he tried and hesitated.

What effect does the 'warpaint' on his face have on Jack? Can you think of other examples in society when people experience this sensation? The war paint on Jack's face essentially creates him a mask. He can be a differnet person now, one that can ruthlessly kill animals instead of showing mercy like he had previously done. It allows him to shelter his own personality and be someone else. We see this in society almost everyday, someone puts on a mask to be more confident and as a defence agasint any criticism that might come their way.

I agree that the war paint creates a mask for Jack. I think that it makes him feel powerful and puts him into the hunter character. I don't necessarily feel that he is trying to be a different person, seeing as though he has always been confident, but merely he is just trying get into the spirit of hunting.
