When jack is told that he needs to follow the rules he just yells that he doesn't need rules. Ralph argues that the rules is the only thing they have, but jack is convinced that he doesn't need rules. This shows that jack is willing to descend into anarchy and it is almost as though he wants to. He would much rather stay on the island and hunt than go back to his old life in England. Jack has now set his mind to becoming the lader of the tribe at any cost and wants to prove to the boys that his ways would be funner.
