What change has come over Ralph as a result of the signal fire incident? How have his values changed? After the signal fire incident, Ralph begins to lose his authority over the group and his position as leader. They no longer lisened to him as they were all so hungry. Even though they knew Jack was at fault that the chance of getting rescued was hurt after the incident, they all wanted food so desperately. Ralph learns that to be a leader who need to have something planned and command attention. He now needs to work harder and fight for the groups attention.

Ralph is definently having to work harder for the attention of the boys. The boys seem to be forgetting that he is in charge nd they voted him chief. Even though the boys are hungry they still should have made the effort to keep the fire going.

I agree that Ralph has realised that he's going to have to fight for his position as leader but I also think that he's now lost his initial optimistic values that life will be fun on the island and is starting to realise how serious their situation is.

What change has come over Ralph as a result of the signal fire incident? How have his values changed? After the signal fire incident Ralph becomes a lot less childlike. He looses some of his arrogant confidence and he begins to see that maybe his father isn't coming to save him. The incident was like a wake up call for Ralph, he realises exactly how difficult being the leader is and how mantaining authority over the boys will be a different a difficult task.

The incident was like a wake up call for Ralph, he realises exactly how difficult being the leader is and how mantaining authority over the boys will be a different a difficult task. He has also become more assertive because he realised that more things will get done that way. Ralph had been too easy on the boys and that is why things were left half done or not done at all. He has definitely realised that being the leader is more difficult than he initially thought.

Even though the boys are hungry they still should have made the effort to keep the fire going. I think that he is trying to dictate, like Jack does, because he seems to be losing his leadership. He does need to work harder to gain more respect and admiration from the boys in order to be the kind of leader the boys listen too.

What change has come over Ralph as a result of the signal fire incident? How have his values changed? In a way, this incident made Ralph wake up to reality and realise that the boys need to maintain things and do certain jobs to ensure that they are rescued. This made him become instantly more mature and he sees that in order to be saved, the boys need to listen to him but he is concerned because the boys don't follow his orders and have started to listen to jack.

What change has come over Ralph as a result of the signal fire incident? How have his values changed? After the signal fire incident, Ralph seems to grow up a little bit. He becomes less innocent and nieve and starts to think rationally. He realises that maintaining authority over the group of boys is going to be a much harder task then he first imagined it to be.
