What does Piggy mean by his claim that “life is scientific”? What does he mean when he suggests that “there isn‟t no fear, either … unless we get frightened of people”?

What does Piggy mean by his claim that “life is scientific”? What does he mean when he suggests that “there isn‟t no fear, either … unless we get frightened of people” I think that a when piggy says this he is suggesting that the fear the boys experience is in their own minds. He also states "I know there is no beast" giving the illusion that they have created a monster from their own imaginations. When he says "life is scientific", he provides the group with some clarity and reason.

What does Piggy mean by his claim that “life is scientific”? What does he mean when he suggests that “there isn‟t no fear, either … unless we get frightened of people”? I think Piggy is pointing out that life has been calculated and there are reasons for any kind of circumstance. So if there is a frightful feeling, it isn't because of nothing. With his suggestion that there isn't any fear, I think he is explaining the order of fears. Many things can cause fear, even the toughest of people can be scared. But those fears can be tiny if you get scared of people and the terrible things they could do. Such as a person who is very savage.

What does Piggy mean by his claim that “life is scientific”? What does he mean when he suggests that “there isn‟t no fear, either … unless we get frightened of people”? Piggy is trying to provide evidence that life is scientific and things like the 'beastie' are just made up and imaginary. He tries to point out that life has been calculated and everything has reasoning. By this he aslo means that frightful is a feeling that could be caused of people and there is no such thing of fear without people.

Piggy seems to think that everything has a reason so he doesn't think there should be anything to worry about, in regards to the beastie.

Like there are the people that when they see that someone died of say, chicken pox, they immediately say "Chicken pox is a deadly disease". Then there are people who know that the person who died, may have had something else wrong with him. Piggy is one of those people.

What does Piggy mean by his claim that “life is scientific”? What does he mean when he suggests that “there isn‟t no fear, either … unless we get frightened of people”? When Piggy says, "life is scientific", he means that everything is drawn upon true facts. So when there is a beast on the island with no evidence of it actually being there, Piggy of course doesn't believe there is such a thing. Everyone has a fear towards this beast that doesn't exist, meaning that this fear is sourced from the people on the island, and transformed into a fragment of their imagination.

I agree that the boys have created a monster from their own imaginations, because they are frightened of everything, including themselves, that is on the island. This fear has transformed into a physical monster, the only output of their terror.

What does Piggy mean by his claim that “life is scientific”? What does he mean when he suggests that “there isn‟t no fear, either … unless we get frightened of people”? When Piggy claims that life is scientific, he means to point out that unless there is solid evidence of this beast, it is more than likely that the boys have created the beast in their own minds. There is usually a logical explanation for anything. He also states that there is no fear, which means that they have this fear of the beastie, but it is all in their head. The fear that all of them have is being caused by other people.

What does Piggy mean by his claim that “life is scientific”? What does he mean when he suggests that “there isn‟t no fear, either … unless we get frightened of people”? When Piggy claims that "life is scientific" he means that everything has a logical explanation, so he thinks it's impossible for a beastie to be living on the island because it's illogical. He also things there's no fear because there's nothing threatening present on the island to instill any fear in them, apart from if they start fearing each other.

He too is starting to realisw that maybe the 'beastie' is actually the boys themselves.

I think that piggy has brought up science and fear together because fear has a scientific explanation. Fear is created in people's minds and it actually can't hurt anyone, but what can hurt people is other people. Piggy is trying to hint that everyone is blaming their fear on the beast, when actually they are afraid of each other.

I agree, I think that he is very smart saying the boys have created there own fear and that there is very much some comfort in that. The whole point of him saying 'Life is scientific' is to show a different side of the younger boys minds, and to get across to the readers that the bestie is actually themselves.

What does Piggy mean by his claim that “life is scientific”? What does he mean when he suggests that “there isn‟t no fear, either … unless we get frightened of people”? When he says this, he tries to comfort the boys in a way because he knows that scientific reasoning and logical thinking tells us that there is nothing on this island to fear such as a 'beastie'. He follows this up when he mentions there is nothing to fear unless they see people which in his hopes is trying to give them a sense of security on the island. He means that because of logical reasoning, he believes that there is nothing else on this island but the boys and the only logical reason for the boys to have seen a beastie would be that it was actually a person because the main problems of the world were caused by people.
