What meaning is the cartoon of Atticus in the editorial trying to convey? Integrate a quote into your response. The message the cartoon of Atticus in the editorial is trying to convey is that Atticus wasn't a proper man as it showed him "barefooted and in short pants." He was also chained to a desk, which might imply that he was being forced to represent Tom Robinson and had no choice in the matter.

The cartoon is a moment where we can really see that the members of town aren't accepting a fellow friends decision. They have turned against Atticus and made everyone think he is a monster.

The cartoon is trying to coney Atticus as a "barefooted" man that betrays society. They believe that what Atticus is doing is wrong and the cartoon shows this by making his pants short and chaining him to a desk, implying that he may be forced into this.

The cartoon shows us the town's low opinion and respect for Atticus, and they are unable to accept it was only Atticus's good nature that made him fight for Tom Robinson.

The cartoon of Atticus is trying to convey how Atticus must be a ‘slave’ to his job if he is the type of person to defend a black man, like Tom Robinson. It also accentuates the way Atticus won’t be distracted by anything, not even attractive women begging for his attention, but really he just “spends his time doin’ things that wouldn’t get done if nobody did ‘em”.

Atticus being shown "barefooted and in short pants" could also show that he's breaking society's expectation of dress, which is considered inappropriate, just like he's breaking society's expectation of not siding with black people, which is also considered inappropriate.

The chain-to-the-desk part could also be interpreted as if Atticus was bound by law, duty, or personal feeling to defend Tom Robinson, despite his race.

What meaning is the cartoon of Atticus in the editorial trying to convey? Integrate a quote into your response. The fact that Atticus is portrayed in such a way that he is chained to his desk and is "barefoot" show that degrading point of view his peers have on him. They are mocking him for his distasteful decision to defend Tom Robinson but it could also be taken into account that Atticus is bound to the case as it is his job, represented by the chain. The fact that he is barefoot suggests he is either worn down or that he has sided with the coloured peoples way, that he can't afford shoes.

The cartoon shows exactly how most of the people in the town, but not all of them, feel about Atticus as they depict him "barefooted and in short pants" with this attire would be socially inappropriate to wear in the public. They also show him being chained to the desk which could mean that they think he is being made to represent Tom Robinson, as anyone in their right mind wouldn't represent a black person.

The cartoon is trying to illustrate how Atticus is being forced to represent Tom Robinson, because he was chained to a desk this could imply he is a prisoner at his job, and that because of this he isn't a real man. This really reveals how much people disagree with his decisions to stand up for someone who hasn't been accepted into society.

The cartoon is showing atticus barefoot and wearing shorts, this shows that he is doing something different than he normally does. Also Atticus is chained to a desk meaning that he might of had no choice to do what he had to do and been forced into it.

What meaning is the cartoon of Atticus in the editorial trying to convey? Integrate a quote into your response. The cartoon shows us attic us chained to a desk which could mean that he was forced to represent Tom in court because no one would ever do that for a black man.
