Explain why Calpurnia speaks differently in the Finch household, and among her neighbors at church.

She speaks differently because if she spoke the way she does around 'black' people to 'white' people she believes it would aggravate them and she believes she should speak more respectfully in front of them as she works under their roof and for their household. This also highlights the difference between the blacks and the whites.

This also highlights the difference between the blacks and the whites. Calpurnia changes her tune when speaking to a 'negro' woman, named Lula, at church. Scouts notices the different tone in her voice when having a conversation with Lula as she spoke "quietly and contemptuously." This portrays the contrast between the speech towards the white and the African-Americans. As Georgia says above, Calpurnia speaks more respectfully to the Finch family since she works and lives in their household. |

When working, what she says may be judged whereas at home she needs not to worry. |

She speaks differently because she feels as though she is able to speak in a different manner to "black" people "white" people. She speaks in a more respectable and nicer way to the others.

This difference shows the separation between blacks and white, how a person of colour is more cautious when speaking to a white. this difference is alike a parent telling their child off and a teacher telling a child off for the same thing.

She speakers differently as she thinks she needs to sleek a different way to the black people as to the White. When she is at church she acts like the others and speaks her bad Mouth.
