In Jack's attack on Piggy, Piggy's glasses are broken. Why is this incident significant? I think that the significance of Piggy's glasses being broken when Jack attacks him is that they were such a symbolic part of chapter 2. Without Piggy's glasses the signal fire would not have been created and that takes away from Piggy's contribution to the group. The glasses, in a way, represent Piggy's ability to reason and hold some kind of power. Ralph later uses them to restart the signal fire and I think that represents the power of even a broken symbol.

In Jack's attack on Piggy, Piggy's glasses are broken. Why is this incident significant? Piggy's glasses have aided the boys before, by being the reason they were able to start a fire. Piggy's glasses, besides helping him to see, are important for the survival of the boys, as none of them really know how to start a fire. This is significant because the glasses were Piggy's contribution to the group, as he does not have much else that people will pay attention to, or even listen to.

This incident is significant because Jack is wrongly using his power, becoming evil and bloodthirsty. If this continues, they will lose Piggy, the voice of reason and knowledge. Jack breaking Piggy's glasses shows us that the boys are spiralling out of control and are throwing away their chances of a civil camp as Jack rises to power.

In Jack's attack on Piggy, Piggy's glasses are broken. Why is this incident significant? This attack is signifigant because Piggys glasses were the reason the boys could start the fire in chapter 2. In a way the glasses were symbolic to being able to start a fire and the fire has the power to keep them warm, cook food and give off smoke to rescue searchers. Without the power to start the fire this could resemble the unition of the boys falling apart.

By one glass breaking, half of the item is destroyed, which also means they only have half a chance of survival left. Now the boys have to keep their group unified and safe, so they are protected and cooperate. Like the way Piggy needs to save his one lens. If the other lens breaks, it will be much harder to live with fire.

In Jack's attack on Piggy, Piggy's glasses are broken. Why is this incident significant? Though Piggy doesn't seem significant, his glasses are. For none of the boys know how to start a fire without them. The boys would be lost without the glasses. Lost with his glasses is Piggy's small amount of power, of reason and the right to speak.

I agree, Jack is now becoming more aggressive and more blood thirsty. He may take his actions further with piggy. Then they will loose the voice of reason and logic.

Jack has broken a part of Piggy because Piggy says "Now I only got one eye" pg. 90 and has pushed Piggy to a point where he can just put up with they way Jack is acting because he also says "Jus' you wait" to Jack. They boys are also loosing a part to their survival on the island by Jack ruining his specs because none of them know how to make a fire without them and if Piggy isn't their with the glasses they will have no fire.

In Jack's attack on Piggy, Piggy's glasses are broken. Why is this incident significant? Piggy himself may be shunned by the group and ignored by most but without his glasses they would not have been able to create the signal fire. The glasses are Piggy's only contribution to the group as he hasn't done anything to aid the boys in survival on the island. The glasses could represent Piggy's only power in the group as he cant do anything else to help.

Its also like that Jack doesn't care anymore about anyone on the island and he doesn't care about how far he sets back the group, he only wants to do what he wants to do.

In Jack's attack on Piggy, Piggy's glasses are broken. Why is this incident significant? this incident is significant because piggys glasses have helped the boys quite a lot, with the fire for example. I think it shows how much Jack disregards Piggy as well, being so inconsiderate to the glasses, something that Piggy needs while on the island.

I think also in a way the glasses are supposed to represent wisdom and reason. Jack casts aside piggy's voice of reason, the same as he casts aside the glasses.
